Byron Cemetery is in the southeastern part of Athens. It's named after George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron (most commonly known as Lord Byron). The suburb that this cemetery is in was also named after him, Vyronas (Greek for Byron). He is revered by the Greeks as a national hero, for joining in the Greek War of Independence and fighting the Ottoman Empire. He died in Greece, due to a fever.
