Andrija Topić

In memoriam

One of the youngest members of the Franciscan Province of Herzegovina, Andrija Topić was ordained to the priesthood on August 22, 1943. Stricken with tuberculosis, he moved to Kočerin, joining his uncle, Father Valentin Zovko OFM., who was a pastor there. It was along with the latter, that lying helplessly in bed, he was brutally murdered by partisans "in odium fidei", in front of his mother and aunt, the latter being Father Valentin's blood sister. Theirs was the same fate which faced several others Franciscans in the country.
