Son of Mrs. C. D. Elwis, of 46, King Edward Rd., Gillingham, Kent. Born in Norfolk. In some archives, it is mentioned that he was in Philadelphia (U.S.A.). He enlisted as Private and then he became Corporal and apparently Lance Serjeant. However, WO 372/7/159109 stops there.
