Herward, Graf von Auersperg was the son of Dietrich, Graf von Auersperg, Herr zu Schönberg, and his wife, Gräfin Sidonia Gall zu Gallenstein zu Grafenweg. He was married at Lichtenwald on 10 Oct 1649 to Freiin Anna Elisabeth von Moscon auf Gurkfeld, with whom he had issue.
