Ippokratis Aggelidis

In memoriam

Ippokratis Aggelidis (Ιπποκράτης Αγγελίδης) was a Gendarme. He was killed in action during the battle of Mandalon (a village near Giannitsa) on November 26th 1946. He was from the village of Domatia (Kavala Prefecture). Member of the 8th Company of Gendarmerie for Pursuit and Hunting (8ος Λόχος Κυνηγών Χωροφυλακής). His village Domatia (Δωμάτια) previous name Samakovo is known for the stone bridges. After the disaster of 1922 , 200 refugee families from Asia Minor were settled there. Most probably his family was one of them since his surname indicates that probably he originated from Pontos area.
