Born in Neubeschenowa, Timis, Banat, Hungary, also known as Ujbessenjo, the third child, second son, of Bernhard and Magdalena nee KOPP, he appears to be the only one of their 10 children to survive to adulthood and raise a family. Married on 7 Feb 1860 to Margarethe nee Baldesweiler with whom he had 10 children, only four of whom reached adulthood, he died in the family home on 26 November 1916.
