John Melackrinos

In memoriam

Born in Halki, Greece, he immigrated around 1938 and settled in the Tarpon Springs, FL. His occupation was a sponge boat diver and boat owner - owning up to five boats. His daughter Ismallia and wife Stamatia joined him soon after he arrived. In the 1950s, he moved his family to Weirton, WV and worked for Weirton Steel until his retirement in the early 1970s. His first wife died in Weirton in 1959, but was reburied in Danville, VA., in the 1970s. He returned to Rhodes in the 1970s, remarried Cleo and lived there until his death.
