Royal Irish Regiment HE GAVE HIS LIFE SO THAT HIS FAMILY COULD LIVE IN PEACE AND HONOUR

Son of John Rafter; husband of Mary McCarty (formerly Rafter), of Moore St., Rathdownby, Queen's Co. Drowned following the sinking of the troop carrying ship 'Arcadian' after a torpedo attack by German U-boat UC 74 in the Aegean Sea 26 miles North East of Milos.
