In memoriam
Maria Devlahovich was baptized on 16 February 1863 at St. Stephen (Sv. Stjepana) Roman Catholic Church in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar in what is now Croatia. She was born there on 10 February to Yakov David (Giacomo Devlahovich) and Vica (Vincenza) Bertapelle/Bruttapelle. Maria had a total of 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She was named after he maternal grandmother, Marija Gizdavčić (Bruttapelle), as was the naming custom. Baby Maria passed away on 19 January 1864 and was buried the following day. Note: Both Maria's baptism and death records are available at Croatia's Archives in Zagreb.
