Royalty. Born the eldest daughter of Louis of Anjou and Elisabeth of Bosnia. She succeeded her father in 1382 as King of Hungary and married Sigismund of Luxembourg in 1385. He was unable to unite Poland with Hungary where Maria's sister Hedwig (Jadwiga) had succeeded Louis.
