Maurice Syndercombe Bower

In memoriam

Lieutenant Maurice Syndercombe Bower. Age: 43 Regiment/Service: Royal Army Service Corps, M.T. Son of Henry Syndercombe Bower and Sarah Matilda Bower, of Child Okeford, Dorset; husband of Geraldine Halliburton Bower, of Bagbere, Dorset. Baptised on 29 Aug 1875 in Iwerne Courtney, Dorset. He was a rancher in Argentina when WW1 started. He returned to England and was commissioned into the Royal Army Service Corps as a Lieutenant. He died of disease in Sofia, Bulgaria on 13 Jan 1919. He is also commemorated on a stained glass window in St Nicholas Church, Child Okeford, Dorset dedicated by the Bishop of Salisbury in 1919 (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/189715/), on the Child Okeford and Hanford Memorial Cross (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/97750) and on the Marnhull Memorial Cross at St Gregory the Great Church, New Street, Marnhull, Dorset (see: https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/97623/).
