Nikolaos Val. Stais

In memoriam

Born in Athens, he was the son of archaeologist Valerios Stais and Charikleia Rodiou. On the mother's side he descended from the Kolokotronis family and was a direct descendant of Gennaios and Theodoros Kolokotronis. He followed the family tradition by attending the Military Academy. He took part in the Balkan Wars and the military clashes from 1917 - 1922. During 1940 - 1941 he was head of air defence. In 1946 he was promoted to Lieutenant General and retired in 1948.
