Rosina “Rosa” Kniesel Haip

1885 – 1910

In memoriam

Rosina (nicknamed "Rosa"), was the daughter of Franz Kniesel and his wife Sofia Eisenloeffel. The Kniesel family was a prominent family in Beschka, Yugoslavia (Serbia). In the book titled "Beschka Homeland Book", by Peter Lang, in the chapter titled "Industry", on page 98, it states: "The most meaningful industry in Beschka, was Kniesel's motorized mill". About 1935, two Kniesel brothers [Philipp Kniesel and another brother], built a new mill in India [the area in Beschka, not the country]. [Note: Philipp Kniesel later immigrated to Ontario Canada, and kept in touch with Josef Heib, of Saline, Michigan]. Franz Kniesel is also mentioned several times on pages 41 and 42, in the chapter titled: "The Reformed Church Community of Beschka and Cost of construction of the belfry". Rosa was the first wife of Johann Haip (Heib), whom she married on April 15, 1902, in Beschka, Yugoslavia (Serbia). Johann and Rosa had five children. Rosa and four of their children died within a very short period of time, in 1909-1910, in Beschka, Yugoslavia, possibly from a contagious disease. Rosa is buried with her four children next to her parents, in the German Cemetery in Beschka, Yugoslavia (now part of Serbia). Rosa and her four children, share a headstone with Rosa's parents. Johann's parents Johan Haip and Margaretha (Mayer) Haip, are also buried in this cemetery. The (German) Evangelical Church was once located next to this cemetery, but it was destroyed during the war.
