He was the eldest son and heir to the deposed Tsar Simeon II of Bulgaria and His wife, Margarita Gómez-Acebo. Kardam of Bulgaria was an economist, having earned a Master's Degree in the Economics of Agriculture at Pennsylvania State University. He and his wife were in an auto crash and he later died as a result of his injuries.
